Zitun, Haim Dan (“Danny”)
Son of Aharon and Amalia. Born on December 30, 1951 in Jerusalem, he studied at the “Komemiyot” elementary school in Bnei Brak and at the city’s municipal high school, and then went on to a high school in Tel Aviv. Bnei Brak, who participated in group games, was devoted to swimming and was a part of a course for lifeguards, and he spent a lot of time exercising, and was always cheerful and excelled in his exceptional courage, and was drafted into the IDF in early 1970, He discovered his ability. He stood smiling in all the training that required supreme physical exertion and his mood became “the name of the word” among his friends. Danny was not afraid even when he was the reason for this. His faith in life was enormous and he caught up with everyone. From the moment he entered the house, the house was full of laughter and jokes. Danny was known for his love of people and his whole image radiated this love. He did not have to make any effort to bring friends closer. Outwardly he seemed to be tough by nature, but those who knew him well attracted him and ran with him. He loved his parents passionately, and at every opportunity, even the most difficult and dangerous, proved his concern for them. His self-confidence was great, and he often said that there was nothing that could not be done if the will of man was firm. During his service he reached the rank of corporal, but he did not finish his regular service, and Danny was wounded while carrying out his duties. Four days later, on the 20th of Iyar 5732 (20.4.1972), he died of his wounds. Danny was laid to rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery. The battalion commander who addressed him said: “Danny did everything that was demanded of him and even beyond that.”
