Zakai, Simhon

Zakai, Simhon

Son of Baruch and Malka. He was born on 15.11.1957 in Holon. The name Simhon was given to him by his father, in memory of his esteemed commander, Asaf Simhoni, who fell in the crash of his reconnaissance plane in the Sinai Campaign, while his mother, who had difficulty giving birth, called him Honi, saying that God loved both of them, But Simchon brought him a lot of joy, but soon it was also mixed with a fair amount of sadness, and as a result of an accident and illness, the child was a regular visitor to hospitals, and he never broke between life and death. Simhon was educated at the Weizmann elementary school in Holon and later at the Yoseftal School, where he moved to a boarding school in Kiryat Anavim where he felt good He now divided his time between studies at the ORT school in Yad Shapira and work in carpentry, and saw carpentry not only as a profession to earn a living but also as a destiny for himself. He spent his spare time at the “Working and Studying Youth Club” in Holon, despite the fact that he was a difference between him and his older friends, and received him with an open Lev for his company because of his willingness to do everything in his power for good, friendship and joy. A trip, a march, a labor camp – was in Simchon’s eyes a real holiday. Until his conscription, he worked in small carpentry shops and finally found his place in a large-scale factory that appreciated his ability and dedication to the profession. He, for his part, radiated the joy of his life over his new surroundings. Thanks to the patriotic spirit he absorbed in the house, he went to the army, full of pride and willingness to give him his best. After exhausting basic training he was assigned to the Air Force for a fire brigade. He served far away from the house and rarely earned vacations and visits to his loved ones. But it was not Simhon’s way of complaining and complaining. On Simulon Simhon died on the 20th of Elul 5737 (August 20, 1977) and was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the cemetery in his hometown of Holon, leaving behind his parents, two brothers and a sister.
