Ben Latif and Hannah. He was born on April 17, 1954 in Kfar Saba. Yosef was drafted into the IDF in early 1972 and asked to volunteer for the Paratroopers Brigade, but when his request was not given to him and he was drafted into the infantry and served in the Golani Brigade, he was very proud of his unit’s insignia. He was a good and disciplined soldier, and by nature he was quiet, comfortable and friendly, loved and accepted by his friends and commanders. 1974.) Yosef fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Yosef served in our unit for about three months in the vehicle department and was a disciplined soldier and loved by all his friends.” His family donated a Torah scroll in his name to the synagogue. In the forest of the defenders a tree was planted in the name of Yosef, to commemorate his memory.
