Yeshua, Nir
Son of Yael and Abraham, was born on 11.11.1962 in Moshav Regba in the Western Galilee. When he was two, his family moved to Kiryat Tivon, where Nir studied at the Kiryat Amal elementary school until the age of 15. Afterward, he decided to continue his studies at the Sde Boker School of Environmental Studies. Nir was a quiet, modest, shy and kindhearted boy. His appearance was fragile, but those who knew him knew that he excelled in physical strength and a strong spirit. He always knew what he wanted to achieve, and could fight to get what he wanted. Nir was an enthusiastic naturalist. He was a member of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel and participated in field school activities in Samaria. Nir was familiar with birdwatching, and dedicated his work at the Sde Boker high school to the life of the locusts. He was an excellent explorer and proved this when he served in the IDF, and his friends and teachers told him that he was principled and had the will to fulfill his principles: “He always stood out in his modesty, seriousness, Every subject, out of peace of mind, with a shy smile. In January 1982, Nir was promoted to the rank of Corporal and was a candidate for an officers’ course, and during the Peace for Galilee war he fought in the eastern sector, and a Syrian missile hit him and wounded him critically For three days Nir struggled for his life. On June 12, 1982, Nir died of his wounds, and was killed at the age of 20. Defense Minister Ariel Sharon wrote to his family: “He was a nature and hiking enthusiast and knew every animal or plant.
