The youngest son of Shoshana and Rabbi David Yehuda. Noam was born in the United States on May 18, 1963, a descendant of a family of rabbis who headed communities in Jerusalem and Philadelphia. But his special virtue was pleasantness. “During his years of study, Noam also participated in various sports activities, and achieved great achievements, while at the same time Noam was a counselor in the Bnei Akiva youth movement in Safed and always invested in original and enriching training activities. In his spare time, Noam loved to travel in nature, and he also loved animals that he raised in the yard of his home. In high school, Noam took the time to enlist and studied for three months Yeshivat Har Etzion in Alon Shvut At the end of 1981, Noam enlisted in the IDF and served in the Combat Engineering Corps. From the beginning of his service he proved himself to be a serious and disciplined soldier, he knew how to attract the soldiers of the platoon, and he was loved and appreciated by everyone. He graduated from basic combat engineering training as an outstanding member of the company. Noam’s commander wrote: “Noam was very prominent at the beginning of his career as a talented soldier, imbued with faith and a strong desire to fulfill his duty in the best possible way.” Later in Noam’s footsteps, it was written with periodic appreciation: “A rare and brilliant young man, a great head destined for greatness.” The lack of training and operational activity did not prevent them from strictly observing the commandments and learning Torah. Everywhere he carried holy books, and each paragraph was saved for study. He also wrote many letters, in which he shared his family, friends, and apprentices in his thoughts and insights during his learning and experiences. On June 6, 1982, when the Peace for the Galilee broke out, Noam’s unit entered Lebanon together with an armored company and a Golani unit. The forces moved along the coastline towards Beirut, and his armored personnel carrier was at the head of the arrow that roared northward, and Noam was killed in a battle in Lebanon on June 10, 1982, the fifth day of the fighting, Who was on his way north to the airport in Beirut, Noam was nineteen years old when he fell, and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Safed, which overlooks the landscapes of his childhood, which he loved: Noam left his parents, two brothers and three sisters. “Noam was immortalized in two synagogues: the” Noam “synagogue established in Safed, the city of his residence, and the” Noam Hall “which was established at the training base of the combat engineering unit, Minute Needy, a charitable treasure books and other social enterprises. Many children have been named after Noam and he is and will always be a source of inspiration for them, as for everyone they know.Noam is commemorated at the Engineering Corps memorial site at the Hulda junction, as well as at the memorial sites of the Golani Brigade and the 53rd Battalion in Armored Brigade 188, the two forces with which his unit is moving in Lebanon.
