Yefet, Ziona


Daughter of Hanna and Aharon, was born in Tel Aviv in 1930. She studied at the “Hashachar” school and later at the school in Neve Tzedek, where she was orphaned by her parents, and most of her brothers and sisters suffered from a burden of orphanhood. Her way to fight for the liberation of the homeland in the ranks of the Irgun underground, and passed the courses in this organization, her life filled with lively and stimulating content. She studied sewing in a vocational school for two years and devoted her spare time to combat training. She often participated in tours and tours of Israel. “There will be a day of vengeance and payment,” she would say, “and we will see our Yaffa country liberated and independent and flourishing.” Ziona worked to achieve this goal and willingly fulfilled every role in the underground. During the battles for the conquest of Jaffa, she worked in a secret storeroom on the roof of the house at 71 Mazeh Street in Tel Aviv, preparing ammunition for her fighters, and she did all her knowledge of the danger. Five of her friends were injured, she lost her life and was brought to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
