Yechieli, Arie (Leo)


Son of Devorah and Chaim-Yechiel was born on June 21, 1922, in the city of Kiel, Germany. immigrated to Israel Aryeh made friends with the Bedouins, wrote songs, translated them into Hebrew, and sang and danced for parties at the kibbutz. He also wrote original lyric songs. In the middle of the winter of (1943), he served as a counselor in the “HaNoar HaOved” youth movement in Jerusalem, when he returned to the kibbutz he continued to work in agriculture, in guarding and with help in bringing immigrants through the desert from Egypt, and devoted some of his time to act in the “Ahdut ha-‘Avoda Movement.” When the War of Independence broke out after the partition resolution of the UN General Assembly and his Beduin friends became enemies, he began to speak with them in the weapon language. On December 16, 1947 )Arieh was killed by Arab policemen (who wanted to take revenge on who was friends with Arabs and was respected by them.) He was brought to rest in the Revivim cemetery.
