The family settled in the city of Frankfurt / Main and Ricardo began studying in a Jewish school in the city. His older sisters, who joined a Zionist youth movement and traveled to Israel in youth groups, all returned with enthusiasm from Israel, and Ricardo, who was infected by this enthusiasm, expressed his desire to immigrate to Israel. When he was 15, he came to Israel as part of Youth Aliyah and was accepted to the Ulpan in Nitzanim. After completing his studies at Ulpan, he was accepted to the Neveh Hadassah youth village, where he moved to Kfar Silver and completed his studies at the end of 1978. In his letters home Riccardo expressed his firm resolve to remain in Israel, to volunteer in the IDF, In early May 1979 and volunteered to serve in the paratroops. The rank of First Sergeant was granted to him before the date prescribed by law. On Sunday, 24 February 1982, First Sergeant Ricardo fell in the line of duty and was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, leaving a mother and three sisters in a condolence letter sent to the family by the Israeli military attache in Germany. “Ricardo chose to live in the Jewish state and saw his homeland. On his way from the Land of Israel to the Land of Israel, he proved to the army and paratroopers that he was a true Zionist who saw in his service a very important mission. Ricardo played his role faithfully and devotedly according to his personality. With the soldiers and officers of his unit, I am deeply saddened by his death … I hope that in the future we will reach a life of peace that will come to us thanks to brave sons like Ricardo. “
