Wolf, Chaim

Chaim, son of Frida and Yitzhak, a survivor of the Holocaust, was born on August 15, 1949 in Romania and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1959. He began his studies in his hometown, continued studying at the Naval Guard, and later studied at the Joseph Sprinzak Professional School and at the high school boarding school in Beit Vagan in Jerusalem. Haim was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of August 1967. After completing basic training, he completed a course for a tank mechanic, where he was trained as a turret technician and a course for the commanders of the Patton tanks. He was a good soldier, responsible and devoted to his job, loved by his commanders, accepted by his fellow soldiers, and served as an example of his good temperament and readiness to help anyone, and after he was discharged from regular army service he passed the matriculation exams. He was like the father of his apprentices in the mechanics of the vocational school He was very patient and had a lot of patience, his door was open to them and he helped them a lot, both in the afternoons and in the evening, and everyone loved him for being courteous and polite, gentle, pleasant, and friendly. He was always kind and generous, and he seemed to help others as a duty, always making peace among people and diligent in bringing enemies closer to the world, and when the Yom Kippur War broke out he was drafted with his unit and sent to the front in Sinai on 26.10.1973 In one of the parking lots on the Lexicon axis, Haim was hit by enemy fire and killed on the spot. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Nahariya. He left behind a wife, a father, a mother, and a brother. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. His parents donated to his memory a Holy Ark and a curtain for the “old-age home” synagogue in Acre; A Torah scroll was also put into the synagogue next to the vocational school in Tiberias.
