Wieseltier, Yoel
Son of Dvora and Mordechai, was born on October 9, 1926 in Rishon LeZion, his father was a member of the Bilu family and one of the founders of the moshava. Yoel graduated from the elementary school and the Gymnasium “Montefiore” and said to study and be an electrical engineer, but out of the responsibility he rejected because of the situation in Israel his plan to go abroad and study. Yoel was a member of the Haganah from his youth. He joined the Palmach and served in Ayelet Hashahar, where he participated in the smuggling of immigrants and the rest of the time, and was one of the first to report and serve in the Givati Brigade in early January 1948. On January 9, With two pistols and two grenades in their possession, armed Arabs from the village of Abu Sawira spotted them and opened fire at them.11 The patrolmen were killed and Yoel among them, and his body was returned the next day by the British army.January 24 on January 24, On the 29th of Tevet 5708 (11.1.1948) he was laid to rest in a grave in the military cemetery in Rishon Letzion.
