Wiesel, David
Son of Sheindel and Mendel Ze’ev. He was born in 1908 in the city of Alchorna, Hungary, where his grandfather, Rabbi David Jaeger, he was named after him, was a God-fearing man, famous for his richness and good deeds for the common good. David was educated in his home for love to the Land of Israel and Judaism and his childhood had many talents. His soul also wanted education. He entered a government school, where he also excelled in his studies. He was especially interested in Hebrew literature and also played the violin. In 1924 he immigrated with his sisters to Eretz Israel. In Israel he studied frameworks and became an expert in the field. He was pleased with his work and was very happy when his parents also arrived in Palestine. On Friday, the 10th of Av, 5749, he went to Safed to house his parents in a new apartment, and on Sunday he returned to work in Haifa, and that week the bloody riots broke out and David took part in the defense of Nazareth Street that was attacked by Arabs. On 21 Av, August 27, 1929, the day after his injury, he died, leaving parents and sisters in Israel, and David was immortalized in the book “Yizkor for the fallen of 1929”.
