Weinberger (Hacarmi), Moshe Eliyahu

Son of Jonah and Joseph, was born on the 3rd of Elul 1923 in the city of Sandra, Hungary. When he was five, he moved with his parents to the city of Kosice, Czechoslovakia, and when he was ten he joined the Bnei Akiva movement, which he remained loyal to for the rest of his life. Faithfully and devotedly he bore the burden of the local branch when he was forced to manage it when he was only 16 years old. Was an athlete (a member of Maccabi) and a soccer player. When he arrived in Israel on May 9, 1941, he completed two years at the Mikve Israel agricultural school in the religious framework of “Aliyat Hanoar”. Where he joined the “Masuot” nucleus, entered the ranks of the Hagana, moved with the core to Tirat Zvi for training and there he worked as a tractor engineer. With his nucleus he settled in the settlement of Massuot Yitzhak in Gush Etzion. Since the tractor was not used in this rocky area, he moved to Lodit and died there. Moshe Eliyahu was the driver of one of the four cars that brought supplies and equipment to Jerusalem from Gush Etzion on December 11, 1947. The convoy was attacked by a strong gang of Arabs and Moshe Eliahu was killed after a desperate defense against the enemy, which cost them a number and a firepower. It was not until evening that he was gathered from the battlefield and buried in Gush Etzion. On the 17th of Cheshvan 5710 (17.11.1949), he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
