Wasserman, Yitzhak


Yitzhak, son of Rosa and Fredo, was born on 21.1.1952 in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 1968, when he was sixteen, he immigrated to Israel with his family. In Israel, he completed his studies in the high school in Kfar Szold, in a general program. As part of Youth Aliyah, Yitzhak was sent to Kibbutz Kfar Szold, while his parents began studying Hebrew in an ulpan in Carmiel. He was able to overcome the difficulties of the new language quickly, and in the same year he became a student in the 11th grade, and he was a diligent student with many talents, and at the same time was able to learn both the Hebrew language and the other subjects. Yitzhak was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early November 1970 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, where he completed elementary courses in the Armored Corps and completed his studies as a tank driver. He took part in the difficult battles that our forces conducted in the central sector of Sinai. On October 6, 1973, his armored personnel carrier was hit by a direct hit while he was trying to stop an Egyptian infantry attack on a television station, and he was killed and brought to eternal rest in the cemetery at Kibbutz Kfar Kefar Szold. He left behind his parents and sister, and after his fall was promoted to the rank of sergeant.
