Wagner, Shlomo
Shlomo, son of Amalia and Tzvi Wagner, was born on July 4, 1929, in the city of Niski, Galicia, Poland. During the war he traveled to Turkestan and arrived in Israel with the Teheran Children in 1942. Shlomo completed his studies at the Horev religious school in Jerusalem and in 1945 moved to Kibbutz Chafetz Chaim where he continued to work in horticulture and in frameworks. He completed his high school studies on his own and even attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for a year. During his studies, he made a living as a clerk for an engineer. From his small salary, he offered help to his mother and his little brother who had remained in Russia, and even succeeded in bringing them to Israel, but he did not get to be with them for more than two weeks. At the outbreak of the War of Independence he enlisted and served in the “Carmeli” Brigade and on 6 Nissan, April 15, 1948, he fell in the battle of Ramat Yochanan, only 18 years old. Shlomo was buried in Kfar Ata and on 23.11.1950 was brought to eternal rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
