Vaknin, Jacob
Son of Makhluf and Solika. He was born in Morocco in 1956. He immigrated to Israel with his family in 1963. In Morocco, he studied in “Hadar” and when he immigrated to Israel he began studying at the Netiv Eliyahu elementary school in Netivot. In the course of his studies at the Yeshivat Hanegev, he voluntarily helped the principals and assisted them in everything he had in hand, and he loved his family very well and was a devoted and loyal son to his parents. He helped them in everything, and Jacob devoted many hours to improving the appearance of the family’s home, including the house, color Yaakov was drafted into the IDF in February 1974. After completing basic training he was trained in a kosher course and was sent by the military rabbinate to the IDF’s Armored Corps School as a kashrut supervisor, and after completing his army service he volunteered to serve in the army, As his commander, Staff Sergeant St.-Sgt. Ya’akov, noted, “a dedicated and loyal soldier who fulfilled all the tasks entrusted to him with integrity and diligence, he showed his ability and willingness to help his friends and exemplary behavior. On 25.7.1977 Jacob was killed in the military cemetery in Netivot, leaving behind his parents and eight brothers and sisters, and his family donated a Torah scroll in memory of the synagogue in Netivot.
