Twito, Shimon

Shimon ben Yosef and Miriam was born on the 28th of Sivan 5718, June 16th, 1958 in Lod. He spent the two years before his induction in the air industry. “He liked to help everyone,” says his brother Pinchas. Shimon was drafted into the IDF in November 1977 and served as a driver in a Nahal unit. In the opinion of his commanders: “Shimon is a disciplined soldier who volunteers and helps his friends and makes a very positive impression ” Indeed, “Shimon was very motivated to return to serve in the army,” says his brother Yitzhak. On August 9, 1978, Shimon was in a car accident. He was taken to the Rambam Hospital where he died of his wounds. Shimon was brought to eternal rest in the Lod cemetery, leaving behind his parents and two brothers. The family donated a Torah scroll to a synagogue in Lod.
