Son of Michal and Jacob. Born on the 16th of Adar 5742 (March 16, 1982) in Kiryat Arba. In his birth, he was given two names: Yair, as a reference to the name of the greatest commentator on the Torah, the son of the Baal Shem Tov – Rabbi Chaim Son of Attar, known as the “Or HaChaim HaKadosh” He was born six years after Yair was born and spent most of Yair’s life in Kiryat Arba, where he began his studies at the religious school of Safed in the northern city and continued at the Kiryat Arba religious state school. “He was a Yaffa young man, there was no girl in Givat Charsina and in Kiryat Arba who did not know who Turgeman was. What characterized him most was his Lev. He always helped his friends in trouble. He was funny, full of life. “In 1998, Yair began his studies at the” Chavruta “experimental high school in Kfar Batya, where he studied sports, and was trained at the Wingate Institute in various fields, General and in the squash industry, Yair was an exceptional athlete, specialized in long-distance running and occasionally crossed the road from the Raanana yeshiva to the Wingate Institute near Netanya, running after four years of study at Havruta, “Who was in Neve Tzuf, and completed his studies there in 2002. When his enlistment date approached the IDF at the end of July 2002, On the Day of the Sayeret. His data enabled him to reach one of the elite units, but eventually chose another route and decided to enlist in a regular infantry battalion, explaining that he wanted to “be where he needed him more,” as his father said. And that instead he could contribute more than his personality. Yair was assigned to the Nachal Brigade and began his training as a combat soldier. At the end of basic training, he underwent advanced training, which at the end of the course was commended by his commanders for his impressive stamina. At the end of the route Yair arrived at the company that helped “Granny Tigers” of Battalion 932 (“Granit”) and quickly became the company’s lover and mainstay. His friends remember mainly the help he used to give them during long journeys and his excellent physical fitness. Yair’s endurance, his ability to withstand physical and mental exertion over time, and his perseverance were well known, and his colleagues testify about how four commanders competed with each other about who would succeed in “breaking” him, and all surrendered; Yair remained strong and courageous and even jumped and leapt at them with provocative hand gestures. Yair’s service was accompanied by quite a few incidents of lack of discipline on his part and lack of understanding on the part of his commanders. He did not get along with all his commanders, and only joined those who answered the definition of “real and unposted,” as he put it. His father called him “the most fascinated soldier in the IDF,” because Yair was often forced to pay a price for his turbulent character and the joy of life that erupted from him, and he was forced to remain at the base Saturday after Saturday. When he was punished, Yair accepted the law with a good spirit and a smile, and throughout his life Yair’s most outstanding feature was unlimited giving, with the sole purpose of helping the weak, making people Simcha and influencing the world. To help him and help him – spiritual, physical or material, and sometimes Yair would disappear from the house without providing explanations and did so Philo on Friday night, suspected that his father abandoned his religion. It turned out that the mysterious outingsWere designed to help and help those whom Yair believed needed. In his youth, he volunteered at the Beit Levinstein Rehabilitation Hospital and in the military framework helped his fellow soldiers. “Yair held the whole company,” the members say, describing how during his travels and training Yair used to help many soldiers who had difficulty meeting the difficult challenges and often dragged a soldier on his back when he felt that he could not continue. During these trips, Yair used to go at the end of the column to identify who needed help, and to help him. “Yair gave every soldier the feeling that he was his best friend,” the friends say, noting that Yair always took care of Oded, strengthened and supported him. Yair had the talent to bring people out of their depression and to make them Simcha even in the most difficult situations. His mischievousness and the joy of life inherent in him formed the fighters around him and turned them into a cohesive unit. It was not for nothing that Yair was considered the clown of the company; he would have laughed at everyone around him, and in every frame he had reached, he could raise morale. It was said that “the entire company can be boozed and in one second, when Turgeman passes, the mood rises on several levels.” His brother, Pinchas, says: “Your joy would infect us all, you knew how to give me strength when I needed it,” and his friends continue: “He never lost his temper, and on the contrary we always saw him laughing and Simcha and encouraging. Whoever opens the book at the end of Yair’s path will see that the sentence that opens it is ‘Accept the IDF Legend’ because Yair was a legend in the full sense of the word. “But although Yair loved the pleasures of life, dressed according to his taste, He behaved sarcastically and often chose a lifestyle that did not conform to the norms of religious society. His father testified that he was a man of faith, spiritual, strong in his soul, who kept his faith and canceled his needs for “He wanted to find favor only in the eyes of the Almighty.” Once he asked Yair whether he would jump first And he sacrificed his life to protect the company, and Yair answered yes, which was Yair’s character: a modest and simple man who hid a generous soul and love of man who always knew how to give and give happiness to others without asking for anything. Only after his fall did his family discover that he did not hesitate to express his opinion resolutely and once did not let go of one of the officers until he agreed to release another soldier from punishment, after Yair promised to take the duty of the same soldier. This never surprised anyone: Yair never hesitated to volunteer to remain at the base for another Shabbat in order to give his precious vacation to a friend who needed more from him. The 35-day stay at his base on Mount Dov, when he was due to leave home this Saturday, was the last call he made and he said he would not come because he had decided to give his departure to a friend whose mother had celebrated his birthday on that weekend. Yair always sought the truth in all his actions and refused to perform actions that did not understand their importance, and so did the religious matters they instilled in his home. From the day he was born, he was careful to preserve the holiness of the Sabbath because he concluded that it was important. In the field of mitzvot between man and man, his friends often raised his devotion to the mitzva of putting on tefillin, even in times of crisis and distress, and even after exhaustive training, and wrote: “Anyone who wants to learn about the mitzvah of tefillin should look at Yair. During his military service Yair served in various sectors in the south and north of the country. A special period was the line he made in Hebron. His company was stationed at the Tel Rumeida outpost, and instead he felt the validity of the responsibility lying on his shoulders,While actively participating in the defense of his home. His physical proximity to his home, which was a few kilometers from the outpost, gave Yair the strength to help his friends in the company more than once and sent his father to bring hot food and other good things. During his service in Hebron, Yair experienced two significant events that left his mark. In the first case, a terrorist attacked the outpost in which Yair was staying. Because of the “jump”, Yair did not have time to put on Tefillin, but made sure to put it in his vest bag. The operational activity continued, and Yair found no time to observe the mitzvah of putting on tefillin. All day he walked with a heavy feeling and a hollow face, and all his friends’ attempts to encourage him were unsuccessful. It was the only time his friends saw him sad and depressed. Another significant incident took place during a simulation exercise of infiltration of terrorists. During the exercise, one of the soldiers mistakenly claimed his weapon with live ammunition and fired at the area where Yair and two of his comrades were standing. The two were injured; Yair miraculously survived. In the last weeks of his life, Yair served in the Jenin area. Together with the auxiliary company, he carried out patrols, participated in patrols and initiated operations. Due to disputes with his commanders, he was transferred as punishment to the headquarters company which was located in the Dotan camp, at the base of the Menashe regional brigade, a few kilometers southwest of Jenin. From the moment he got there, Yair fought for his return to combat duty and waited impatiently for the order. The Dotan camp was surrounded on all sides by hostile Arab villages that had extensive terrorist activity, and often suffered from a permanent pattern of attacks: from the villages a number of shots were fired at the camp, and the shooters fled back to the villages. This routine was known in the camp and the main means of protection for the soldiers in the camp were concrete walls placed in certain places at the base. Yair fell on Wednesday, 19 October 2004, in the Battle of Mevo Dotan, where Palestinian gunmen from the Fatah military wing in Jenin positioned themselves on a hill overlooking the area of the brigade headquarters and opened fire at a group of tents in the center of the base. One of the bullets entered a tent in which Yair sat and hit his stomach. The medical staff arrived at the scene and tried to stop the bleeding and called for medical reinforcements. Yair was taken by ambulance to a military checkpoint in the area, from where he was flown by helicopter to Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera. There, on the operating table, he died. He was twenty-two years old when he fell. Yair was brought to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by parents, three sisters – Avital, Keren and Tehila et al. – Pinchas Yosef. After his death, he was promoted to First Sergeant. The family found that a hint of the date of Yair’s departure is found in psalm 23: Psalms 4: “Even if I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, no evil happened, for you are with me.” The psalm is on the fourth of the month, the day of the month in which Yair was killed, and in this psalm is the slogan of the battalion – “even if I walk in the valley of the shadow of death.” Yair’s father eulogized him: “… My son Yair, what I have not yet learned to teach you from the teachings of the Holy Light of Life, I ask you to go into the world of truth, to enter the realm of Maran and learn from His Torah, The righteous in their death are called life … A decree is decreed upon the people of Israel, and the Holy One, blessed be He, descends to his garden to the vineyards to graze in the gardens and to gather lilies, taking the good rose that will be beside him. … And why was he chosen? Yair Nissim canceled his ‘I’, looked at everyone’s level of eyes, gave the impression that every soldier / man was his best friend – and on the other hand he sought the closeness of God in a manner that would not be suspected of being a Hasid. Of Yair, the father related that in his estate there was a postcard with an appeal and a request to the Creator to fulfill the two most important wishes to him:One is that he has full health for his brother, and the second is that Gd will find him a modest and good girl. This is the description of the man, the son with the jeans and the gel that earned the many after his death to keep the Sabbaths and put on tefillin. We thank you for creating a world that has earned us the privilege of being an inn to kill a kingdom and raise such a great soul for its everlasting grace. “The print and electronic media extensively covered the circumstances of Yair’s death and his life story and death are described in a booklet prepared by a cadet and a cadet. A memorial site on the Internet, at: www.yaeir.ad-olam.co.il/ The lines of his profile are also available on the website of the Kiryat Arba Local Council at: http://hebeir.co.il/k4/memorial/yair_torgeman Two weeks after the fall of Yair, the routine of firing at the Dotan camp resumed, and in August 2005 the camp was evacuated as part of the disengagement plan and the buildings and tents Destroyed
