Turgeman, Amram

Son of David and Joy. Born in 1947 in Arpud, Morocco, the family immigrated to Israel in 1955. When he reached the age of school, he began studying at the elementary school in Tel Hai and completed his studies there, and Amram was a generous and devoted son to his parents. And during his vacations he would go to work in the porterage to help the family, which before his enlistment would always make a living – especially to be a relief to his sick father. This was the practice until the bitter and hasty day came on the 22nd of Kislav, December 24, 1967, when Amram fell in the line of duty and service near Abu-Rhodes to preserve the new borders of the state. He was brought to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shmona cemetery. The commander of his unit, in a letter of condolence to the family, wrote: “He showed exceptional devotion in fulfilling his duties and in the Six-Day War, and I would not exaggerate if he says that he was the fastest and most orderly soldier in terms of performing the job in the battery!” “He thought of you, of helping his family with children and helping him as much as possible, and he could combine his love for the army with his concern for you.”
