Tirosh, Yaakov (Yankele)

Born on April 15, 1951 in Netanya, brother to Pinchas, Yankele was the son of veteran parents – his father worked for the Jewish Agency and his mother was a kindergarten teacher, and grew up in a cultural, open and Israeli atmosphere. – “Bialik” elementary school and graduated from Bar-Ilan High School, was a mischievous and curious boy whose exploits were famous, loved freedom and continued into the open spaces, and his openness to the world and his free spirit led him to many adventures. Riding on horses without permission, galloping on trips and reaching distant places, and tried to ride a motorcycle even though he had never learned to drive. Because of these characteristics, and despite his youth, he was appointed to the NCO at Sde Dov Airport, where he served in many roles, including the Head of Recruitment, Assistant The head of the reserve corps, the head of the reserve corps, the reserve duty officer, the reserve liaison officer, the officer in charge of the reserves, the naval commanding officer, etc. His commanders were impressed by the analytical ability he was given and his reliability was expressed in actions and decisions. At first he served as a management officer and in this capacity he held various positions, from the issue of reserve mobilization, through equipment, to the issue of placing officers. After a few years he served in the naval base in Eilat, where he served as a manpower officer, and in his last years served in the Navy headquarters in the Kirya, and at the same time completed his BA in History at the IDF Command and Staff School, To. Etti, the choice of his heart, met Yankele in the army. The beginning of the relationship was based on mutual appreciation and good friendship and continued with love of life. They married and had three children – Tali, Ron and Nadav. Yankele was a member and partner, counselor and spiritual teacher. As a partner and pain, he was able to grant endless love and to catch up with others in his unique, modest and sober worldview that enabled his partner to pave her way to personal development. Yankele’s last years of service were spent on him and his family in the shadow of the cancer he suffered. His extraordinary personality was even more pronounced against the background of the disease. Yankele did not surrender for a moment, fought heroically and often seemed to have overcome and won. He took care of a normal way of life, and in his optimistic nature he kept hope for a better tomorrow. On July 4, 1993, the illness was decided upon. He was forty-two when he died.Yankele was laid to rest in the Kfar Saba military cemetery. Survived a woman, three children and a brother.
