Tiliof, Ben-Zion (Bentzi)
Son of Adina and Jacob, was born on October 4, 1930 in the Bukharan neighborhood of Jerusalem. His father, a prominent member of the community, devoted himself to his education and gave him a Hebrew culture and Jewish values that instilled in him a love for the homeland. His first education was at Tachkemoni School. The family moved to Tel Aviv and lived in the Shapira neighborhood, and the boy continued his studies at the Bialik school until its conclusion. At the age of 14, he began to support himself in framing. son of-Zion aspired to study electrical engineering at the Montefiore School. As an apprentice in Hagam, he was active in Gadna and participated in tours and training. With the first call he showed up for service and with pride he declared: “Now I am a soldier for the waves.” He joined the battalion in the “Kiryati” brigade and participated as an expert machine gunner with great talent in operations in Bat Yam, Sheikh Munis, Yehudiya and Beit Dagon. son of-Zion was among the defenders of the Tsrifin camp. He was surrounded by a squad in one of the houses, which was attacked on three sides by strong enemy forces, and after the enemy attacked the armored vehicle and the military force had no effective weapon against him. son of-Zion was one of the classmates who was looking for the withdrawal. He was wounded by an enemy bullet and fell on Wednesday, June 11, 1948. He was brought to rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery in memory of the heroes of this battle.
