Talcar, Yigal
Son of Sarah and Shmuel, was born on May 28, 1962 in India. When he was 3 years old, Yigal immigrated with his parents to Israel and the family settled in Dimona. He attended the Palmim Elementary School, the Zinman Middle School and the Lehman High School, where he studied electrical engineering. Yigal was 13 when he joined the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement in Dimona. He liked the framework of his movement, and in the years 1979-1978 devoted himself to training work, and served as the nest coordinator. When he was in the 11th grade, he and his classmate, Ofra, joined the Nahal paramilitary group Ahad. He loved trips, nature, and lots of social activity. His attitude toward his friends was warm and friendly, and he was always willing to help others. “We knew how to appreciate Yigal as the core of the nuclear group, he always knew how to tell the truth, he did not always have a blessing for it, but he was whole with himself.” In September 1980 Yigal enlisted in the IDF and served in the Nahal paramilitary brigade. When the Peace for Galilee War broke out, he immigrated with his unit to Lebanon. On June 10, 1982, Yigal was in an armored column, advancing on the Damur road in Beirut, when a Katyushas landed on the armored column, and Yigal was wounded by mortal wounds. T. was 20 years old when he died, and Yigal was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Dimona. He left behind his parents, five brothers and a sister. Defense Minister Ariel Sharon wrote to his family after he fell: “Yigal was a soldier with leadership figures, and he chose the path of personal fulfillment.
