Sushin, Dov
The only son of Reuven and her face. He was born on May 30, 1947 in Kletsk, Russia. The boy suffered greatly from the gentiles, even in the school where he began to study, and even when he went out into the street. From his youth he suffered injuries to the national background and his longing to immigrate to Israel increased from day to day. In 1960 a family immigrated to Israel? The parents settled in Kiryat Haim and Dov was accepted to the educational institution at Kibbutz Dalia, where he completed his elementary studies, although at first he had difficulties learning Hebrew and adapting to kibbutz life. He spent two years at the naval officers’ school in Acre, and after four years of study, was drafted to the Israel Defense Forces in September 1966. He has served in the Israel Navy since his enlistment in the Israel Defense Forces. At the end of the Six-Day War, he told his parents that he regretted the great sorrow that he did not agree to stay in the career army and accept the officer’s rank. He was about to be transferred to the beach and intended to continue his studies at the Hebrew Technion in order to specialize in ship engineering. However, fate thwarted his plans, and only a year passed when he served on the Eilat destroyer when he found his death cell, drowned by Egyptian missiles in front of a Romanian beach in northern Sinai on the 18th of Tishrei 5721 (October 21, 1967). He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. In the book “The Trees Cut Down” by the residents of Kiryat Hayim, who were killed in Israel’s wars, published by the Hakirya Committee, Yad Lebanim House and the Haganah organization there, several pages were dedicated to his memory.
