Was born in 1958. Mordechai was the first child in the family to have five daughters, and when he was two years old he immigrated with his parents to Israel in 1960. The family settled in Daughter of-Yam, and Mordechai began his elementary studies at home He moved to the Mikveh Israel agricultural school where he completed his studies in literature, and in July 1976 Mordechai joined the IDF and served in the Engineering Corps. He was trained in basic training, sent to a squad commanders’ course, and in May 1977 he was awarded the rank of corporal. Three months later, Mordecai completed a course in NCOs in the Engineering Corps and was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and was sent to the officers’ training course, where he was awarded the rank of lieutenant colonel, and in July 1979 he began his career in the career army. He was a diligent officer with a sense of improvisation, initiative and resourcefulness. “In January 1980, Mordechai was discharged from the army and joined the Israel Police, where he served in the police force for one year. He returned to the career army in order to replace his fallen friend, and in June 1981 he returned to the career army. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Holon. Mordechai left behind his parents, seven sisters and a brother. Defense Minister Ariel Sharon wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Mordecai was a brilliant, energetic officer who excelled in his originality, diligence, initiative and resourcefulness, and during the war he volunteered and carried out missions while fighting beyond his responsibility by navigating forces, Minefields, everyone who knew it – appreciated and loved. ” The commander of his unit wrote to his family: “Moti was killed while carrying out his duties, while dismantling a mine at a terrorist outpost in the outskirts of Mazra’at al-Masharaf, where he worked for many of the risks, yet he performed his work with great love and dedication With many others engaged in this role. “
