Sudon, Ram (Rami)

Ram (Rami), son of Shoshana and Moshe, was born on 15 September 1952 in Kibbutz Shoval. Ram was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early November 1970 and volunteered for an elite unit of the infantry, where he took a scouts course, a parachuting course, and an infantry commander’s course with honors. In the opinion written by his commanders, he was described as an outstanding soldier, with great daring and ability to execute, who is not deterred by difficult tasks, and an excellent officer, patient and very comfortable at work, with great energy and initiative. One of his commanders even noted that the IDF should nurture him, because in time he might be one of the IDF’s senior commanders. All his commanders and friends loved him and admired him for his modesty, kindness and being a devoted friend in Lev and soul. As soon as the end of his mandatory service period approached, he volunteered for a regular army service, although he did not see his future career in the IDF and was supposed to begin his career in the army in November 1973. In the difficult and bitter battle that took place on October 9, 1973, Rami was wounded and transferred to Beilinson Hospital on 9 October 1973. He was buried in the cemetery at Kibbutz Shoval and left behind his parents, brother, and sister
