Sudai, Guy

Ben Rachel and Nahum. He was born on the 15th of Tammuz, 5765 (June 15, 1975) at the Sharon Hospital in Petah Tikva, where he was a brother of Nimrod, then four years old, and he was very alert and responsive to his surroundings, quickly grasping what he was saying, He grew up in Tel Aviv and completed his elementary studies at the David Yellin School, went on to the Lady Davis Middle School and completed his studies with great success. He was an independent, courageous, industrious, decent and fair man, who raised his parents, did not bother his parents, did not make special demands, but took care to solve most of the problems he faced. He was free to do whatever he wanted, to respond honestly and truthfully to what was happening and to say what was on his mind, a mischievous man with a charm, but when he made a mistake he admitted his mistake and received its price with understanding. He joined the “Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed” youth movement at the age of 15. He joined the Magen David Adom (MDA) at the age of 15 and was elected to the local student committee. At the age of 16 he already had a motorcycle license. He wanted a lot and fast: a sailing and diving course, playing drums in a band, galloping on a sand bike, surfing the sea, and cultivating animals of every kind; he was a snakes’ tower, a collection of abandoned animals, and what was not – everything that could be done to contribute to his environment? – would do with great love. Guy was a natural leader and was a personal example of his friends. And when two of them ran away from the good way, he took the trouble and returned it to him by force of his responsibility, his seriousness, and his lack of abandonment. He was known for his sensitivity and for being a conscientious person. Many girlfriends surrounded him and he acted like a real gentleman – he never hurt anyone, and even though he parted from some of his friends he did it gracefully and gave the impression that he was a separate man, but he did not disappear from the surroundings. He always kept in touch with his friends and even with their families. On the days of remembrance, his father says, before he joined the IDF, Guy would stand at attention on the porch of his home in memory of the fallen, and he seemed to know everyone and wish to pay the last respects to each and every one of them. “Guy was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of August 1993. He was intended to serve as an air crew in an aviation course, but when he did not pass the tests – and the impression is that his tendency to help his surroundings was too much. Perhaps the decisive factor, was placed in the air force’s observation unit, in contrast to his inner desire to serve in the Air Force Desa Combat. A year and a half went on in the unit when Guy, as he had always done, takes everything easily and with good spirit-even what seems difficult. His mother says: “Guy never complained, complained or criticized.” In his free and liberated spirit he also swept his friends. And yet, everyone knew how careful, calculated, thorough and responsible he was. After a year and a half, he arrived in Safed and soon became acquainted with the new members who soon found his way and wanted him. Guy was especially fond of the night and devoted himself to the nocturnal shifts in which he was part of the alert group at the outpost. To his friends, Doug was always ready: he prepared meals, encouraged and maintained the joy of life and dealt with all matters of the current situation. And when he got home for the short vacations, his mother says, the atmosphere in the house was filled with excitement: the phones did not stop ringing and his many friends would come to visit. Two days before he was killed, Guy called home: “Everything’s fine,” he said. “Do not worry.” His loving brother Nimrod asked to go to the outpost: “I’ll watch over you,” he told his brother. “No, it’s all right”, Replied Guy. He began to plan for a parachuting course in which he wanted to participate, but he did not manage to do so, as did many other programs. On February 23, 1994, Guy fell in combat in Lebanon in a coordinated artillery attack by Hezbollah fighters on the Brosh outpost in the eastern sector of the security zone, and after he was shot, he gave instructions to his entourage how to treat him. He was taken to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, leaving parents and brother, and was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and his family wrote in his memory: “When a person was born in the world, A flower was born with him. / And there is no such flower all over the world. / When a man dies, the flower / and more dies with him, there will never be such a flower. A magnet was Guy. What else can you tell about a guy like Guy who did so much in his short life? What can you tell about a guy who could give more than he asked for. What else can you tell about the graceful, playful spirit of the playful curls, the inner spirit that sought to take off to distant places, a man who valued life as a gift from heaven, but also knew how to accept it easily. What else can you tell about Guy, whose spiritual independence led him to do everything on his own. What can you tell about Guy who listened to everyone but felt that his way is important in the performance of things. What can you tell about a guy who could give himself to his parents, his friends, his brothers and the whole family? Guy is killed in battle, he is not here, but he will continue to live in our hearts forever. Even if I have not heard you from a distance, even if I have not seen you, even if I did not hug you, even if I did not reach out, even if we did not go together on the road. with everyone. / With those who knew, with those who did not. / The wind that blows softly, / In the space of the world of the good spirit that has been left – / caresses our remaining faces to live also because of you, / that will be reserved for you, even without words, even in silences. A memorial to Guy was erected at the Shoham Park Observatory.
