Stieglitz, Kalonymus-Kalman (Kalmi)


Kalonymus-Kalman, son of Esther and Moshe David Stieglitz, was born in 1929 in Cluj, Transylvania, Romania. In 1946, he immigrated to Israel on the ship “Max Nordau”. He moved to the Atlit camp and joined the Agudat Israel youth group in Kfar Saba, where he also studied agriculture. From there he was sent to the Ponevezh Yeshiva near Bnei Brak. On December 15, 1947, he joined one of the Alexandroni Brigade battalions, and fought the Jewish battles of Kula, Lod, Ramle and Kfar Saba. During Operation Horev he fell, on 26 Kislev, December 8, 1948. He was buried in Faluja and on 8.12.1949 was transferred to eternal rest in military cemetery in Haifa.
