Stern, Israel (“Juri”, “Yishai”)


An only son of his parents Yehuda and Tzipora. Born after World War II. During this war, his parents lost both his brothers who had been exterminated by the Nazis and his mother, who was displeased with the loss of her children and with whom Israel was born, found encouragement and a desire for life. Israel was born on August 16, 1947, in Tautau, Romania, where he came to the world with the compensation for all the mental suffering that his parents had known beforehand.Israel grew up as a healthy and proud child and poured light on all the people in the house. His parents immigrated to Israel, where he studied at the school where he lived, and at his parents’ home, he acquired high values, and when he reached school he began studying at the Moses Hess School in Holon and after completing his studies he continued to attend the new municipal high school. “Scouts” and was in Gadna. He was an amateur shooter and very active in this industry. He also won second place in a high school shooting competition. Israel liked running and basketball and excelled in them. He also loved nature and often collected and raised various animals to his home. In November 1965, he was drafted into the IDF and was sent to the course after completing basic training and preparatory courses, and during the course he was given a few days’ vacation due to the removal of a nail from his leg, but after a few hours of vacation he decided to place him at the base. Infantry officers and despite leg strain continued in all field training, and after completing the officers’ course with the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was sent to a training base where he served until the beginning of the hostilities. The Six-Day War broke out and the battle that took place at Armon Hanatziv in Jerusalem fell, and this was the first day of the war-fighting 26 June 1967. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, and his unit commander wrote to his parents in a letter of condolence that, “as the platoon commander, Israel was the first to charge his platoon with heavy shelling To conquer the target, giving his subordinates an exemplary personal example. We know that Israel’s dedication and devotion to the goal were not created in one day, because the result is from the education he received at home and from the IDF’s training that he gave him during his short service. ” After they fell, he was promoted to lieutenant in recognition of his service. The library at the Hess School in Holon, which was purchased with the parents’ donation, is named after him. In the new municipal high school, the school is given a name every year to protect its name for the outstanding student in physical education. A list in his memory was cited in “Midot”, the newspaper of the same school.
