Stein, Peretz (Peter)
Was born on March 19, 1926, in the city of Zagan, near Chemnitz, Germany, where he immigrated to Israel with his family in 1936. Upon completion of his elementary studies in a school for the children of workers, He worked as a laborer in Jerusalem and with the members of his movement, Mahanot Ha’olim, where he moved to Maoz Haim for recruits, and at the beginning of the Second World War began working in a mechanical workshop of the British Army. But continued to work as a civilian operator of a diesel machine, and later began working for the Middle East car company in Tel Aviv, where he lived in his parents’ home in Holon, where he belonged to the Haganah as a member of the Hagash. His lifestyle changed in late 1947 when he moved to Jerusalem and worked at the company’s branch for cars. With the outbreak of the War of Independence following the decision of the United Nations General Assembly to divide the country into two states, Peretz became a member of the Haganah as he passed through all the battles of besieged Jerusalem, and on 14.5.1948 was joined to the department, Arnona, and Talpiot to the center of Jerusalem, which was marked by his heartfelt concern for him and his warm attitude toward him.This was revealed with all his energy and energy, and Peretz fell after the completion of the operation, when he was sent to take over the railway station and the government printing press near Abu Tor, Enemy on the 8th of Iyar 5708 (17.5.1948). He was buried in Sanhedria in Jerusalem. On the ninth of Cheshvan 5711 (8.11.1951) he was transferred to the eternal rest of the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem
