As part of his job, he embarked on operational missions and volunteered as his commander wrote: “I remember more than anything else that you volunteered to sail a rubber boat in a stormy sea despite the risk.” According to his commanders, Yuval excelled throughout his service, both in the course and in his work. During his vacations he used to spend time with his girlfriend, Adi, with his classmates, with his comrades in arms and with his family, which began to expand when his niece, Noa, was born. On July 13, 1987, Yovel fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Binyamina. He left behind his parents, brother Yoram and sister Etty. After his fall he was promoted to sergeant.
