As a Golani fighter, he participated in many combat operations, even beyond the borders of the country, and was awarded the “Operational Service Award”. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, he and his unit moved up to the Golan Heights, as part of the force that was given the task of recapturing the Hermon post. The convoy was ready to move, and although Yoav was supposed to remain behind, because he had no place in the half-track, he joined the company’s company’s half-track, and after two days of fighting on October 10, 1973, After the convoy was shelled by a cannon and mortars at the restaurant junction of Majdal Shams, Yoav ran forward with the flag of the state, mounted the command line, determined to bring the flag to the outpost and raise it in his head.
