Ben Nava and Ephraim. Born on November 24, 1973. In Haifa he was three years old when his sister, Orly, was born, and Tomer, who was known to everyone as “Shilpko”, was educated at the Dinur Elementary School and the Ironi Gimel Junior High School in Neve Sha’anan Was a student of his studies and his great curiosity, who was not satisfied, and completed his high school studies at the “Sammat” school in Hadar Hacarmel, Haifa, where he received a prize for his high achievements at the end of each of the three years. Tomer used to come to the school with the daily newspaper, which was an inexhaustible source for the expansion of his education and knowledge. Tomer had many interests, but his most prominent hobby was sports. From childhood he used to play soccer and tennis, and was swimming. In particular, Tomer loved the soccer game: he knew all the players of the different teams, and Maccabi Haifa and Bayern Munich were his favorite teams. Between Tomer and his sister, Orly made a special connection: They both loved music, movies and dogs, and used to spend many hours together. The courageous relationship grew stronger over the years, thanks in part to the pride of the brothers’ unit and of Ariel, Orly’s husband, all of whom served in the navy. Tomer joined the IDF in 1992, after successfully completing his studies as a security guard, and soon became a soldier and an excellent officer who excelled in original thought, with a “big head.” He was able to provide a quick response to every problem and, above all, Tomer served as a high-quality officer with professional knowledge and excellent norms. “During his service in 1998 Tomer began his BA in economics and logistics at Bar-Ilan University. His studies met Liat, and after three and a half years of friendship, he married her in May 2001. Tomer graduated from UNEV In the summer of 2000, and immediately returned to serve in the Navy as a logistics officer, who was outstanding for his professional skills and was praised as a man and an officer. Tomer’s commanders in the unit described him as a promising officer, uncompromising, “with extraordinary ability to understand the other within seconds, a great desire to help and support unconditional moments of pressure … an officer of the group of officers who presents vision, action and achievements.” Despite Tomer’s modesty, with his great devotion he succeeded in instilling in his commanders and those around him the sense of security that the solution to the problems would come immediately. Tomer was known for his radiant personality, his shy smile and his sense of humor, which helped him quickly integrate into the unit and made him one of the cruisers. Major Tomer Shilipkovitz fell in the line of duty on 4 January 2002 after seven months of happy marriage to Liat. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. He was twenty-eight years old when he fell. Survived by his wife, parents and sister. In a letter of condolence sent to the family, the unit commander wrote: “Tomer served with us for a long period of time, and he was a diligent officer who showed dedication, professionalism, And his commanders. “
