Shifman-Horn, Chaya (Chaika, Chayele)


Daughter of Hanna and Abraham, was born on the 23rd of Iyar, 13.5.1928 in the city of Yaroslav, Western Galicia, in a traditional observant home. She immigrated to Israel in 1943. In Israel she was accepted to the Mikveh Israel agricultural school as part of the religious youth aliya. On the 4th of Iyar 5708 (13.5.1948), her 20th birthday, she sat in a shelter under the headquarters building, helping to treat the wounded, and made sure to prepare food for the members – and she fell in the collapse of the building of the “German monastery” which was blown up by the enemy, On 25 Heshvan, November 17, 1949. She was transferred to the cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
