Shemer, Dror


Son of Yehudit and Benjamin, was born on January 7, 1958, in Tel Aviv. Dror began his studies at the “Yavne” elementary school and completed his studies at the “Shalva” high school, both in Tel Aviv, the school principal and his class teacher, who insisted on his qualities: “Dror was 15 years old When he entered my room, the headmaster’s room checked to see if I was meeting his expectations … Only after I had “tested” the school’s educational approach to suit his needs did he decide that he would choose our school. … As a man stood out quietly, calmly and with infinite restraint … There was someone to talk to. He was always attentive, polite and polite. As a student, he excelled in quick perception. Things were absorbed in him with such lightness, and his control over the material was full. “During his studies, Dror was active in the Gadna and was active in sports. Dror was drafted into the IDF in July 1977 and volunteered for the Navy, and was a very disciplined, responsible and devoted soldier who carried out everything he was assigned to. His teammates had a special knack for avoiding a quarrel, and there was no man Dror had quarreled with or quarreled with. His friend Reuven recalls: “We used to eat meals of corruption, when Dror ran the cooking, and always brought out tasty and special cooking that I never tasted. In the discharge certificate he was described as “very good.” He was awarded the operational service certificate and his commanders’ assessment was: “A person with leadership skills, a good manager and organizer, honest, very disciplined, persistent and diligent, with a welcome initiative.” In the middle of July 1980 Dror was discharged from the regular army service and was accepted to the Faculty of Political Science at Tel Aviv University. During his first vacation he went with his friends to Europe. He planned to spend his second vacation in the United States with his girlfriend, and then to marry her. But this was not the case. In his last reserve service, Dror was the armored personnel carrier of the Armored Corps, and on Sunday, June 9, 1982, First Sergeant Dror fell in battle in Lebanon during the Peace for Galilee War and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left behind his parents and sister, and the family published a book called “Dror Forever” in his memory, describing the course of his life and the words of friends and friends about him.
