At the end of his ninth year of studies, the family decided to immigrate to Israel. Ilia and his parents arrived in Israel at the end of May 1991 and established their home in Rishon Letzion. In the selection that took him to high school, Ilya asked to join a vocational school. At his request, he began studying at Mishlav High School in Tel Aviv and completed his studies in the automotive mechanics course. In addition to his studies, he also worked to help his parents support the household. Ilya was a man with many ambitions and a strong desire to move forward. He was very devoted to his parents, and their best interests always lay before his eyes. As an only child he showed great responsibility, consideration and caring. He never bothered the parents with the requests and made sure to pay for all his material desires. Ilya did not dislike any work, and even when he was forced to work in hard physical work he did not complain but devoted himself to the matter and accepted it with love. In 1992 Ilya and his parents moved to Ofakim. At the end of October 1993, Ilya joined the IDF and was stationed in the Ordnance Corps, where he was awarded an outstanding apprentice certificate, attesting to his good qualities and high abilities, and was assigned to the Ordnance Unit of the Southern Region and served as a mechanic at the Tze’elim base. He was highly praised by his commanders, who appreciated his responsible and professional work and recommended continuing his service in the career army, and in late 1996 he began his career as a car mechanic. Established their home in Ashdod during the eight-year period They had two children – Daniel, who was born at the end of December 1999, and Tal – who was born at the end of May 2003. Ilya was a devoted and loving father and a wonderful partner, and the moments he did with his children were the happiest of his life and he tried to spend as much time with them as possible. In the summer of 2000, Ilya was diagnosed with leukemia, underwent a series of difficult treatments but maintained a positive attitude and was convinced that he would defeat the disease and return to his work. , As far as possible. Throughout the difficult period he was surrounded by family and friends who supported him, strengthened him and wrapped him with great love. During this period, too, he did not give up his desire to continue studying and complete the matriculation examinations, and he did so with great success, although it was a great effort. In November 2004, Ilya passed examinations for studies in the “Automotive Technician” degree. He was supposed to begin his studies at the end of February 2005, but was not enough. At the beginning of 2005, the cancer returned to his body and Ilia was hospitalized at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer. Nevertheless, he continued to broadcast optimism and believed that this time too he could win. At the time of his hospitalization, he managed to grant a rank to a female soldier who served with him, a co-worker, and was full of pride and excitement. Ilya invested his energy, time and high abilities in raising the level of the department and its success. His qualities contributed greatly to external audits conducted by the unit, and thanks to him, the department achieved high achievements.
