Yehoshua, son of Chana and Yitzchak Shasha-Halevy, was born on October 28, 1909 in Petach Tikvah and then moved to Haifa. At the age of 16, he began working as an assistant to a locksmith at the Shemen factory and joined Hanoar Haoved, becoming a welder. As an essential worker in the “Shemen” factory, he was confined to his place of work and was not recruited for full service. But he joined the Palmach and fulfilled his duty as a machine gunner. He fell on 17 Tamuz, July 24, 1948. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. His name is included in the booklet “Bnei Kiryas Chaim”.
