Sharvit, Meir

Meir, Ben Hannah, and Jacob was born in April 1950 in Arpud, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1962. Meir was drafted into the IDF in early February 1968 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After basic training he was trained as a tank gunner and sent to serve in a tank battalion in the Northern Command. In 1972, his eldest son Avigdor was born. Meir was the head of a dedicated and loving family and devoted a great deal of time to caring for his young son. During the Yom Kippur War, his unit participated in the battles of containment and infiltration against the Egyptians in the Sinai. In these battles Meir served as a cannon in the tank of the battalion’s deputy commander. On the 8th of Tishrei 5734 (October 8, 1973), Meir was killed and killed during the battles to break up the bridge to the Firdan bridge. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Netanya. Survived by a wife and son, parents, four brothers and three sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant.
