Sharon, Ofer
Son of Eliyahu and Hanna Born on December 16, 1957, in Hadera, he attended the Ahad Ha’am elementary school in the city. Afterward he studied at the Rodman Comprehensive School in Kiryat Yam. Dust was pursuing justice. His stubbornness in this field often caused friction between himself and his teachers, but he was nevertheless popular for his character. He was an intelligent guy and in his cheerful temper he liked the people around him. He invested his energies in sports – soccer and basketball – and was a member of his school team. Ofer was a member of several youth movements. At first he joined the Maccabi youth movement and the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement. Later, when his family moved to Kiryat Motzkin, he joined the Mahaneot Haolim youth movement. He was a sociable person, and his circle of acquaintances and friends was very large. He liked to travel around the country, to party at parties and to take part in shows and social events. He never gave up a chance to visit a friend, travel to a distant place, or dine in a great new restaurant. The love of life was dirt and guided him in the quest to extract from life all the best possible. At home the family life was smooth and dust helped his mother and brother always and they had a close friend. When he was 11 years old, he died from his father. He grew up quickly and felt the responsibility of his concern for his mother and younger brother; His older brother was then a soldier in the IDF, and Ofer became the head of the family, and later his mother remarried, and when his stepfather, who was a building contractor, began to fill his place, he worked as a regular contractor. Ofer was drafted to the IDF in August 1976 and was deployed to the Ordnance Corps. After completing basic training, and after completing a training course for armored personnel carriers, he asked to be transferred to a combat unit and volunteered for Golani, and was sent to the commando unit, where he demonstrated great talent and dedication. When the patrol was disbanded, to his chagrin, Ofer was transferred to another battalion and quickly integrated into the new company. During his military service he was willing to travel many hours to get home. Even for a few hours, to enjoy the atmosphere of the house and to meet with his friends. On the tenth of Tammuz 5737 (10.7.1977) fell dirt while carrying out his duties. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Hadera. He was survived by a mother and two brothers. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Ofer was a good professional who loved his work and his colleagues in the unit and was loved and accepted by the soldiers and the commanders, and his absence will be felt very well in the unit, because we lost a good professional, .
