Sharabi, Yoel

Yoel, son of Kochba and Issachar, was born in Tel Aviv on February 19, 1953. He completed his elementary studies at Hatikvah in the Hatikva neighborhood, and at first it was difficult for him to adjust to the frameworks. In later years, after learning to take his energy out of sports training, he relaxed and began to study properly: “We knew Yoel as a mischievous boy, and at the same time shy, gentle and polite. He respected his family, who lavished endless love on him. Yoel was a good friend and often joked with his friends. He was a member of the Bnei Yehuda sports association in the soccer field and of the Hapoel sports association in Tel Aviv, a brave boy who was energetic and had always been active in the field of basketball. He was not afraid to perform the most difficult and dangerous sports exercises, and every day he went to practice, and on weekends he played as a goalkeeper for the Bnei Yehuda youth team, often bringing prizes and achievements to the first places of his school. : “Yoel was a straight, courageous boy, and a simple and pleasant manner. As a student in sports, do not forget Yoel’s talents. In the sports competitions he always encouraged his teammates to continue to strive and win. After he was asked to leave the sports field, he would sit at home and read books eagerly, and spent his leisure time with his friends at the local Ezra youth club, where he participated in classes He completed his high school studies at the Ort vocational school in Tel Aviv, where he specialized in the framework of training, and Yoel was drafted into the IDF in late February 1971 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After completing basic training, he took part in a course for the drivers of the half-track unit and was assigned to the unit, and his comrades and commanders loved him and appreciated his great energy and professional knowledge.In the Yom Kippur War he fought with his unit on the northern front. In a condolence letter to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Yoel was an excellent driver and prominent among his company’s soldiers. “The family donated a bookcase, chandelier and holy books to the synagogue in the Hatikva neighborhood.
