Sharabi, Nehemiah


Son of Sarah and Ratzon was born on May 16, 1934 in Tel Aviv. Nehemiah studied at the religious school “Aliyah” after completing eight years of schooling, completing his high school education at Kibbutz Sha’ar HaGolan, where Nehemiah also returned after completing his army service and was a member of the kibbutz. In February 1953 Nehemiah enlisted in the IDF and served in the Nahal Tzabar group. He went to the Nahal Brigade in Kfar Hahoresh and then underwent infantry training, while Nehemiah fought in the 1956 Sinai Campaign and fought in the Six-Day War and the Yom Kippur War. After leaving Kibbutz Sha’ar Hagolan, he worked first as a guide at the Ein Gedi field school and later worked until the day he fell in the Tel Aviv University’s zoological garden.In September 1982, Nehemiah was called to service He was stationed in positions south of Ansar On September 14, 1983, terrorists opened fire on machine guns and missiles at his post. Nehemiah was killed and killed. He was 49 years old when he fell. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Ra’anana. Nehemiah left behind a wife, two daughters, a son, two sisters and three brothers. Defense Minister Moshe Arens wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Corporal Nehemiah was one of the volunteers in the group, a model soldier, and loved by all his acquaintances.” The commander of his unit wrote to his family: “Nehemiah was one of the volunteers in the group, an exemplary soldier, a friend to everyone, a modest person who knows his own way, who was personally responsible for himself and those around him.” His name is vanquished on the marble plaque in memory of the fallen of Tel Aviv University. In the neurological department at the university a memorial corner was erected that bears the name of Nehemiah
