Shapiro, Shmuel


Son of Bluma and Aaron. Born on 14.7.1949 in Acre, son of parents of Holocaust survivors who immigrated to Israel after the establishment of the State of Israel. He studied at the Weizmann elementary school and at the end of eight grades he moved to study subjects at the Tadmor Hotel in Herzliya. He studied at Tadmor for three years and after graduating began working in hotels as a regular cook. In November 1967 he enlisted in a military unit as a cook, trained in professional courses and was highly respected for his dedication, professionalism and efficiency, and in 1970 he completed his compulsory military service and continued to serve in the IDF as a sergeant. And was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and at the recommendation of his commanders he was again promoted to the rank of major. The opinions and evaluations of his service were excellent. In December 1972, his commander noted: “As a unitary sergeant, he is very responsible and devoted, invests a great deal and takes care of the efficiency of the work and the level of food. He is well versed in his profession and has an organizational ability. “Shmuel married Ruti and built his home in Nahariya, where his three daughters were born. His commanders noted that he was “in control of his position, carrying out his work impeccably, with an excellent profession.” In 1980 he was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and was decorated with the symbols of the Six Day War, the Yom Kippur War, the Peace-Galilee War and the Outstanding Service Award, and served in the army for officers of the officers’ school for the last eight years. He built his home in Kfar Vradim in the Western Galilee, and suffered from health problems, which limited his ability, underwent treatments and tried to overcome his difficulties, 23.7.1987) was thirty-eight years old when he fell, leaving Raya – Ruth, three daughters – Edith, Oshrat, and Ronit, a mother and two brothers Moshe Vever In.
