Shachar, Yosef
Son of Avraham and Camilla. He was born on March 14, 1931, in Cairo, Egypt, where he completed his studies in elementary and high school and immigrated to Israel alone in 1949. Later on, when his family immigrated to Israel, And in the “Scouts” organization, he loved sports and during his free time, he read and even wrote poems, and Joseph was a modest and quiet man of good morals, courtesy, and seclusion, and he never knew his personal problems and accepted things without complaint. Joseph was drafted into the IDF in mid-May 1951 and served there faithfully. He participated in Operation Kadesh, in numerous operations during and after the war and in the Six-Day War. He was devoted to his job with all his Lev, for his precision and meticulousness marked his work. Of all his qualities, modesty and humility stood out. He was modest in the full sense of the word. While serving as a parachutist (though he was a member of the Medical Corps), he suffered mortal wounds. After his discharge from the regular service he was called for periods of reserve duty. On the 20th of Sivan 5730 (June 20, 1970), he fell while serving in the reserves and was put to rest in the cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He left a wife and three children.
