Shachar, Meir


Son of Ephraim and Ayala. Born in Tel Aviv on the 3rd of Nissan, March 17, 1945. In 1965, Meir completed his pilot course as an outstanding trainee and joined a regular service. A year later he received the rank of lieutenant and was appointed to the operations officer of the Mirage squadron in which he served. In the Six-Day War, on the 26th of Iyar (June 5, 1967), the first day of the battles, while Meir carried out four operations over the fields of Egypt and Syria; he fell. Six weeks later his body was returned from Syria to Israel. He was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. After he fell, he was promoted to captain.
