Son of Malka and Yosef Halevy was born in Haifa on September 23, 1926 to a family with many children. His parents immigrated to Israel about a year before they were born and worked for a plantation. His family was among the first settlers in the “mansion” on Mount Carmel, and his father founded the first school in the neighborhood. At home his friends absorbed the values of religion and tradition together with love for the people and the land. In kindergarten his teacher was his sister. After graduating from elementary school in Zichron-Yosef, he moved to the Reali School in the biological track with the main interest of botany. Yedidya wanted to unite the Ezra Bnei Akiva movement and all the religious youth in Haifa so that there would be unity among the religious groups and by doing so would be more ” Force “, because the split has a weakness, and he prepared a joint show for everyone that took place in the building of the Reali School in Haifa, Yedidya did all this in order to bring about the redemption by Achdut, which did not like his commanders in the Haganah, But he was ahead of them and joined the Irgun Zvai Leumi (National Military Organization), where he quickly completed a course for deputies And in the “Salik” of the weapons. Yedidya was one of the planners and perpetrators of attacks on British army vehicles at Mevo’ot Hacarmel. On the night of the first of Shvat 5708 (January 12, 1948), his friends were kidnapped from his place of work as a night watchman in a building where he worked as a builder during the day, and his kidnappers were members of the Haganah who suspected him of being involved in the kidnapping of one of their commanders. According to the version of the Haganah, Yedidya escaped from his place of arrest in the direction of the Arab village, a castle at the foot of the mountain, and the inhabitants of the village killed him.Itsil’s version was that Yedidya was murdered by Haganah members and His body is next to a castle. The story of his life and death was published in a book called Demi Is Not Silent – Yedidya Segal, Abduction of Torture, Murder and Justice. He was brought to rest in the cemetery in Haifa. His friends and family described him as a handsome, quiet, loyal, industrious, intelligent man. Some of his nephews are named for his real name and his underground name. In the 25 th year of the state, a public park was inaugurated on the estate and named after Gan Yedidya.
