Schulteis, Yehuda


Son of Yitzhak and Leah. He was born on August 17, 1955 in Haifa. He attended the Tsafririm Elementary School in Shaabir. Afterward he continued his studies at the Air Force Technical School in Haifa. Yehuda was loved by his friends and teachers. He liked to help people and spared no effort to come to the aid of his family or classmates. Yehuda traveled extensively throughout the country to get to know its landscapes and sites. He devoted many hours to the sport and excelled in the soccer game. Music was an inseparable part of his life. He used to shut himself up for a long time in his room to listen to music on records. At parties he was always at the center of his interest and he breathed life into every event he took part in. He was lively and friendly, and was an example of his friends. In a letter to his parents, his cousin, Yossi, wrote: “Yehuda was the only person I always wanted to follow, and I always consulted with him as if he were many years older than I was. His aunt wrote to the family: “Yehuda was a Yaffa young man, fresh and with a cheerful smile on his face, and he was the living spirit in every event and joy.” Yehuda was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in August 1973 and was deployed to the Armored Corps. He was an excellent soldier and took pride in his role as an IDF soldier, and on May 31, 1974, Yehuda fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa, where his parents and sister left behind. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Your son was a good and disciplined soldier, and he carried out the difficult tasks imposed on him with a smile and love … He was a friend and evil and in many cases even helped his friends more than he could and lent them various sums of money, .
