Schechter, Yishai


Ben Sarah-Chaya (nee Bagel) and Yitzhak-Yehuda. He was born on March 8, 1975 in Haifa. The third of the six children of the Schechter family, a brother to Tamar, Menachem, Racheli, Hagai and Yaeli. Yishai began his elementary studies at his home in Yavneh and at the end of second grade the family moved to Har Bracha. Yishai studied for two years at the Nahalat Zvi school in Elon Moreh and when the family moved to Kedumim, he studied for two years at the local school. In high school and high school, he studied at the high school yeshiva in Karnei Shomron and graduated in the biological track. His father, Yitzhak, was among the paratroopers who fought in the Six-Day War at Ammunition Hill in Jerusalem, and he educated his children in the spirit of love for the country and the importance of service in the IDF. Early in the morning, on the Ali Taher ridge in southern Lebanon, they encountered a squad of terrorists on their way to carry out an attack, and a shooting battle and grenades were opened at close range. Together with Yishai Shechter, Lieutenant Lior Ramon, Staff Sergeant Idan Gabriel, Staff Sergeant Eshel Amir Ben Moshe and Sergeant Yaniv Roimi also participated in the battle. Yishai was promoted to lieutenant after his death. He was twenty-one years old when he fell. It was the first space to be laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Kedumim. Thousands accompanied him on his last journey. Survived by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, brother-in-law and nephew. After Yishai’s death, his nephew, Achshai Chai, was born.
