Bat Mazal and Amram. She was born on August 17, 1974, in Kiryat Shmona. A third child of a family of five. As a child, Galit drew attention to her beauty, her curly hair, her big eyes and her sweet, melancholy smile. She began her studies at the Korczak elementary school, and continued her literary studies at the Youth Center, an institution of the Youth Aliya in Kiryat Shmona. In the summer of 1991 she was chosen to represent her school in a youth delegation that left Kiryat Shmona for the twin city of Nancy, France. Galit grew up in gymnastics and dancing, loved nature and scenery and climbed the mountains around her hometown. In mid-December 1992, Galit was drafted into the IDF and assigned to serve as a clerk in the Ordnance Corps of the Northern Command, where she was described as a responsible and efficient soldier. In early May 1994, she received a long weekend vacation for a family event that took place in Tel Aviv. On Friday, May 5, 1994, Galit fell in the line of duty, during a car accident, in which a company that drove the car was also killed. She was twenty years old when she died.
