Salman, Yehuda
Yehuda, son of Haviva and Naji, was born on August 10, 1952, in Kfar Saba, to a family with many children. When he was three he lost his father, and his mother continued to raise her ten children alone. Yehuda attended elementary school in Ramat Gan but was unable to continue his studies because he had to go to work to help with the household agriculture. Yehuda was drafted into the IDF in July 1970 and assigned to the Armored Corps. When he completed compulsory service, in mid-August 1973, he was registered in his release certificate, for he fulfilled his duties to the satisfaction of his commanders. During the Yom Kippur War, he served as a truck driver on the southern front. On October 7, 1973, he was hit and killed near El Arish. He was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the Kiryat Shaul cemetery. He was survived by a mother, four brothers and five sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, Defense Minister Moshe Dayan wrote: “Yehuda was a devoted soldier and a loyal friend, Yehuda was loved by everyone who knew him.” His family donated a Torah scroll to a synagogue in Givatayim.
