Salinas, Shabtai
Son of Benvenida and Menahem, was born in 1929 in the city of Adirana, Turkey where he graduated from high school. When he grew up, his ambition to immigrate to Eretz Israel intensified, and despite the difficulties of emigration, he managed to reach Eretz Israel in 1944. Here he was a member of the “Youth Aliyah” training program in Sde Nahum and after two years of training he decided to enlist in the service of the people. When he received letters from his parents describing his situation, he decided to do everything in his power to bring them to Israel, but when they arrived here, Shabtai was not among the living. From his kibbutz Givat Brenner was sent to serve in the Palmach units, who promised the peace of the Negev from the beginning of the War of Independence following the UN General Assembly resolution on the partition of the country into two states.
