Alan (Eli), son of Hanna (Annette) and Morris, was born on November 21, 1953, in Tunis, Tunisia. He first studied in a French elementary school in Tunis. After his family immigrated to Israel in 1965 and settled in Ramle, he continued to study at the Yemin Orde high school on the Carmel coast, where he was a member of the local scouts movement and after his immigration to Israel he joined the Bnei Akiva youth movement. , But very kind, he loved his family and despite his mischievousness he excelled in his studies, and since he was educated in a traditional home, he used to observe the mitzvot from a young age, although he was a bit shy. He was very fond of his teachers and friends and was successful both in studies and in social life, and his friends testified that he had always succeeded in preventing conflicts, arguments, and quarrels. He wanted to contribute to the IDF as much as he could, and demanded to serve in a combat unit, he volunteered for the artillery corps and was very proud of his unit, and his training was exemplary, and his commanders testified that he was an outstanding soldier. On October 6, 1973, his artillery battery was attacked by enemy tanks, and his support was hit directly, and all the crew members were injured. Among the rest of the crew, Eli also fell. He was laid to rest at the Mount Herzl cemetery in Jerusalem. Survived by his parents and three brothers. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Eli fought fiercely and devotedly, and during his service he successfully integrated into the battery life, and was admired by his friends and commanders.” Defense Minister Moshe Dayan wrote: “Alan was a devoted soldier and an excellent friend, he was admired by his commanders and by his comrades in arms.”
