Ruth Moritz

Daughter of Miriam and Isaac, was born on 29.1.1930 in Melbourne, Australia to parents who were members of Hebrew schools in Eretz Israel. Ruth immigrated to Eretz Israel with her parents at the end of 1934. She studied at the Geula Elementary School and the Shalva high school and was among the best students. She took part in a course for Hagam commanders in Kfar Vitkin, then joined the Irgun underground, went through all stages of the service until the end of the commanders’ course and was given the nickname “Dvora Commander”. In December 1947, after graduating from high school, she was accepted as a student at the University of Melbourne and prepared to go there, but when the UN General Assembly resolution in Lake Success on November 29, 1947, accepted the partition of the country, With the Etzel forces defending the Jewish village, and fell there on Tuesday, June 10, 1948. On the 11th of Sivan 5712 (June 4, 1952), she was brought to rest with the rest of the victims of the battle for her Jewishness – The military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
